Perspica is a personal blog by Akash J. This page explains what information the site collects, who receives it, and what we deliberately do not do. There are no hidden trackers and no sale of personal data.
What we do not do
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not run third-party advertising pixels or behavioural ad networks on this site. We do not build profiles of visitors for marketing purposes.
Newsletter
If you subscribe on the homepage, your email address is sent to Buttondown, which hosts the mailing list. Buttondown processes and stores your address so messages can be delivered. Their privacy policy applies to that data: Buttondown Privacy.
You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any newsletter email. We only use your email to send Perspica updates — nothing else.
Comments
Article comments are powered by Giscus, which uses GitHub Discussions. To comment, you sign in with a GitHub account. Giscus and GitHub receive whatever profile information GitHub shares with the widget (for example your username and avatar). Comment content is stored in the connected public GitHub repository’s Discussions.

Analytics
Perspica does not use Google Analytics, Plausible, or any other visitor analytics service at this time. Hosting logs from Vercel may record standard technical data (such as IP address, browser type, and requested URL) for security and operations — see Vercel’s Privacy Policy.
Cookies & local storage
The site itself sets no tracking cookies. The only deliberate use of browser storage on this domain is:
- Theme preference — stored in
localStorageasperspica-theme(lightordark) so your choice persists across visits. - Poll votes — if you answer an inline poll on an article, your vote is stored in
localStorageon your device only (not sent to a server).
Giscus and Buttondown may set their own cookies when you interact with comments or subscribe — those are governed by their respective policies.
